I am a person who addicted to lip balm. I use a lot in a day. Though, this is not winter here and regardless the weather our lips also need some treatment as other parts of body. If any day I did not bring it with me, on that day my lips should feel not comfortable as they always be. I will think that I shouldn’t forget it next time. I use it after shower, after having good toothbrush, after meal or when usual activities that can wash my lips moisture.
I love to make lip balm myself and never want to buy any. First, I always think that lip balm should be eatable and contain non-toxic, artificial or chemical things. It will be stick on our lips and sometimes we eat them without noticing it. I start looking for recipe that contain all natural nourishing ingredients. Second, I sometimes allergic to the beeswax and of course if my vegan day is on so I do not want to use lip balm that contain beeswax, of course from animal. So, I always prefer plant based product. Third, after a while when I change my lifestyle. This is one of the way to live eco sustainable, environment friendly zero waste lifestyle to reduce product with package by doing this myself instead from taking from shelf.
Ingredients – Please adapt amount of ingredients by your choice. On this recipe I made for myself just only a small batch of 5mg to fit with my tin container. This can be last for around 2 months. I even use it many times a day and everyday. As I did not add any preservative so I do not want to keep it for long. However, Vitamin E contains natural antioxidant that helps to extend the life of product. A good thing is you can always use up and then change the next favor. Life gets too bored to use only one lip balm favor, right ? Yes! I know that.
And the fun part starts …
I use stainless coffee spoon to melt and warm all the ingredients together. That amount can fills exactly level that I need for my container. Anyone wants to use double boiler is also good. Before do all these, I always prepare my space and rub all surfaces including container using 70% alcohol spray. .Light my scent candle and turn on good music.
I used around ten droplets of Candelilla wax for 5 mg. tin container which already provide a good amount creamy consistency and doesn’t make lip balm too hard and difficult to use. Add Candelilla wax with a bit of coconut oil until all droplets melted then add extra coconut oil about one and half table spoon. Add Vitamin E oil and rose hip oil. Remove from heat. Add peppermint oil in last step.
Everyone adore light scent of lip balm more than strong one I guess. It is because we apply on our lips underneath our nose. If the scent is too strong you can get easily dizzy from that. Stir all ingredients together and then pour to the cutest jar. You have time to dance a bit until the lip balm is cool and turns harder and good set. You know when it is ready to use. Let’s Try!
I felt so good after using this lip balm. I made 3-4 batches already. It has light coconut scent and I personally love fresh and cool minty scent. After used, my lip remain moist, smooth and soft for a long time. I hope you enjoy it as I do. Let try, it’s fun! Let me know if you like it.
